Skiing lovers gathered at a ski resort in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, on Saturday for its opening ceremony. Urumqi's 2023-2024 ice and snow season kicked off. 　

With the increasing popularity of ice and snow tourism and sports in Urumqi, the city has launched 39 ice and snow-themed activities, covering ice and snow sports, ice and snow events, food tasting, folk culture, and other aspects.

Transportation lines from seasonal airports and high-speed rail stations to major ski resorts have been opened, so more people can participate in ice and snow activities.
